With the victory, Miami, LSU and Stanford are the only teams to advance to the Super Regional round all five years since the advent of the Super Regional format in 1999.Miami has now won an NCAA-record 10 consecutive regionals, dating back to head coach Jim Morris’s first year in 1994.Miami head coach Jim Morris improves to 8-0 in home post-season elimination games at Miami.With the victory, Miami is now 145-66 in NCAA Post-Season Baseball Tournament play.The Hurricanes improved to 102-36 all-time in NCAA Regional/Super Regional play and 96-32 all-time in NCAA Regional action.The Hurricanes are now 71-11 in NCAA Regional/Super Regional play at Mark Light Field including a 67-11 mark in Regional round action.The Hurricanes improved to 9-2 all-time against Florida in NCAA Tournament play.The back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning of game two by Florida’s Ben Harrison and Alex Garza were the first consecutive homers allowed by the Hurricanes this season.UF hit three home runs in the sixth inning of game two, marking the first time Miami has allowed that since Stetson did that in the 2001 Regional Final at Mark Light Field.The 15 runs allowed by Miami in Sunday’s first game loss to Florida is the most allowed by the Hurricanes in a home post-season game and ties for the most runs allowed in any Miami post-season game (vs. Stanford in 1991 at the Fresno State Regional).Richard Giannotti’s two triples in the first game against UF tied a UM post-season record set by Bill Wrona set against Stetson on May 29, 1982.The Hurricanes stranded 16 runners in the opener, tying a record for runners left in a nine-inning regional game (vs. Rider, May 27, 1994).The 10-run loss by Miami in game one is a record for the largest losing deficit by Miami in a regional and ties for the largest post-season loss in UM history (12-2 loss vs. Texas on June 5, 1989).The loss to Florida in the first game snapped Miami’s 18-game home post-season winning streak, dating back to 1998, the second game of the Atlantic Regional (6-5 loss to North Carolina).The three hit batters in one inning by UM pitcher Brandon Camardese set a new UM post-season record and tied the school record last done by Matt Kamalsky against Florida Atlantic on April 22, 1998.Brian Rose of Florida hit a grand slam home run, the first allowed by a Hurricanes pitcher this season.
