Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami has been selected as one of 16 regional host sites for the 2003 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The regional tournament will begin on Friday, May 30 and continue through Sunday, June 1 at Mark Light Field.

Miami (39-14-1) will be hosting its 19th NCAA Regional. Miami is assured of making its NCAA-record 31st consecutive regional appearance. The Hurricanes have advanced to the College World Series 15 of the 18 years they have hosted a regional and hold a 68-10 (.872) record in postseason play at Mark Light Field.

“All you have to do is look at our home record over the years and know that it is a great advantage [to host],” said head coach Jim Morris. “Our players are staying in normal places, they’re eating normal food, they don’t have to travel. We’re playing on a field we are familiar with. There’s a lot of confidence playing at home and its a huge advantage.”
