Hurricanes Ranked 7th and 9th in New Baseball Rankings

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Miami’s weekend sweep of then-No. 2 Georgia Tech vaulted the Hurricanes up the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 7 in Collegiate Baseball and No. 9 in Baseball America.
With the three-game sweep of Georgia Tech, Head Coach Jim Morris’ Hurricanes are now 23-4 on the season and is riding an eight-game winning streak. Freshman Ryan Braun has powered Miami at the plate with a team-high .390 batting average, nine home runs and 34 RBIs.
UM jumped six spots in both the Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America polls after coming in at No. 13 and No. 15, respectively, a week ago. It is the first time that Miami has cracked the top 10 since a No. 6 ranking on Feb. 25, 2002.
Florida Atlantic, which is ranked 17th (BA) and 25th (CB) in this week’s rankings, visits Mark Light Field on Wednesday, April 2 to take on the Hurricanes at 7 p.m. Oral Roberts will then come to town for a three-games series over the weekend. Games are set for 7 p.m. on Friday, 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
