Miami to Face Harvard in the Papa John's Homestead Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami baseball team will venture south to take on Harvard in the Papa John’s Homestead Challenge at the Homestead Sports Complex on Wednesday, March 26, at 7 p.m.
It is the sixth consecutive year that Head Coach Jim Morris has taken his squad to the Homestead Challenge. UM has an 11-1 record in the tournament, including a 3-0 mark last season.
The student voice of Hurricanes’ baseball, WVUM 90.5 FM, will once again carry all of the action live.
The Hurricanes enter the contest with a 19-4 record and a four-game winning streak. UM is ranked 13th by Collegiate Baseball, 15th by Baseball America and 14th by the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll.
Brandon Camardese will get the start on the mound after Sunday’s game was rained out. Camardese brings a 4-0 record into the game with a 2.70 ERA.
The Crimson are 3-5 on the season headed into their Tuesday, March 25, game with FIU. Harvard lost to Florida Atlantic on Monday, March 24, in Boca Raton, 15-6. The Crimson also dropped both of their games to Rutgers that were played in Boca Raton on March 21 and 22. The Scarlet Knights took the first game 10-2 and followed with a 16-6 win.
UM won the first two games against Boston College last weekend before the series finale was cancelled due to rain. It was the Hurricanes third rainout of the season. Miami exploded for nine runs in the eighth inning to break open a two-run game in the opener on Friday night and win 18-8. In game two, UM scored 13 unanswered runs to open the game and cruise to a 17-5 win.
Miami will host second-ranked Georgia Tech at Mark Light Field this coming weekend. The Hurricanes and Yellow Jackets will get things started at 7 p.m. on Friday. Game two is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday with the series finale set for 1 p.m. on Sunday. All three games will be televised on Fox Sports Net Florida with Saturday’s game on a same-day tape-delayed basis starting at 10:30 p.m.
