Campbell Visits Mark Light Field for a Three-Game Series

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami Baseball opens a three-game series with Campbell University Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Field.
Sophomore Vince Bongiovanni will take the mound for the Miami, while Campbell will counter with right-hander Rob Finch. It is the first game of the season for Campbell, which is coming off of a 22-29 record in 2002, including an 11-19 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Miami opened its season Wednesday night with a 12-7 win over Florida International at Mark Light Field. Newcomers Adam Ricks and Brian Barton led the way offensively, as five Hurricanes recorded at least two hits in UM’s 14-hit attack.
Ricks went 2-for-4 with an inside the park home run, while driving in five runs. Barton collected a team-high three hits, including a two-RBI triple in the first inning. Danny and Paco Figueroa both pounded out two hits and scored three runs for UM. Freshman Ryan Braun also chipped in with two hits.
Miami will send right-hander Brandon Camardese on Friday with Campbell starting left-hander Jeff Stovall. Friday’s game is set for a 7 p.m. first pitch at ‘The Light’ and will be televised by Fox Sports Net Florida. The series finale on Saturday is scheduled for 4 p.m. with Ryan Dixon pitching for the Hurricanes and Matt Kleweno throwing for the Fighting Camels.
All three games will be carried live by Miami’s student radio station WVUM 90.5 FM. Spanish radio WNMA will also carry Friday’s night’s showdown with Campbell.
