Hurricanes Ranked In Preseason

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – The University of Miami baseball team enters the 2003 campaign ranked 14th (17 points) according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s Fabulous 40 pre-season poll.

The Hurricanes finished last season ranked 17th by the publication after falling to South Carolina in the Super Regional.

Only one UM player, RP George Huguet, was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s 2003 Pre-Season All-America Team.

The Hurricanes begin the 2003 season by hosting cross-city rival Florida International Wednesday, Feb. 5 at Mark Light Stadium.

Prior to the game against FIU, UM will host an Alumni Game Saturday, Feb. 1.

The first series of the new season will start Feb. 6 when the Hurricanes welcome Campbell to Mark Light Stadium.
