Baseball Ranked As High As 7th In Latest Polls

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – The University of Miami baseball team (2-4) remained in the top 10 of the Baseball America poll, falling in at No. 7 after beginning the year as BA’s preseason No. 3. Recently, the Hurricanes dropped two games to Florida at Mark Light Stadium over the weekend.

In the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches’ Poll, the Hurricanes dropped from preseason No. 2 to No. 12.

Collegiate Baseball rated the Hurricanes No. 17 after begin ranked No. 7 for the last two weeks.

The Hurricanes return to action this weekend as the Minnesota Golden Gophers visit Mark Light Stadium for a three-game series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. Saturday’s baseball game begins at 1 p.m., while the Sunday game is at Noon.

The Friday night game with Minnesota will also mark the return of former Hurricanes star Dave Berg, who will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Berg recently signed with the Toronto Blue Jays after spending his entire professional career with the Florida Marlins organization.
