Head Coach Larry Coker:
On today’s practice:
“It (the sun) came out I think when I called the team in to end practice. It rained throughout practice but we didn’t mind because it may rain at the bowl game. We needed to get the kids out of the hotel. We only practiced for an hour and 10 minutes, so it worked out well.”
On balancing extra team activities:
“I’d never been to this bowl game and I didn’t realize what a tradition they have here. It’s just amazing.”
“We’d better balance our act because that’s going to be a big part of winning – being able to focus and put the distractions behind us. We talked today that starting in the next day or so, there are going to be throngs of people that are going to be coming in and families and well wishers. All here for the right reasons, but we have to be handle all that. If you’re not careful, you’ll get distracted and you’ll totally lose focus on why you’re here.”
On Chris Campbell:
“He’s going to be released today and he is on antibiotics. We’re going to plan that he’s not going to play, which we think he can, and if he does it’s a bonus for us.”
On Howard Clark:
“I think he’ll do well. He’s played and contributed a lot. Obviously he hasn’t started there for an extended amount of time, and I think that’s a concern, but I think he’ll do well.”
Defensive End Andrew Williams:
On rainy practice:
“It was alright. We just went in and got work done. We went out there and had a little fun here and there, but we practiced hard and got our workout in.”
On stopping Nebraska’s option:
“They’re most effective in their quarterback, Eric Crouch. He’s a tremendous player and he takes it in his control. Whenever he wants to pitch, he’ll pitch. If he sees a little seam, he’ll hit it. Basically, if we keep our eyes on them and work hard, hopefully we’ll be able to stop it.”
Linebacker Howard Clark:
On starting:
“I’m just going to play like I’ve been playing all year. I’ve been taking reps and pretty much every position.”
On playing different side:
“Everything is coming at you. Strong side is like playing from outside in, rather than inside out. Everything is right at you so that’s a little bit different, but everything else is pretty much the same. You have to think a little more and read stuff a little bit quicker than in other positions.”
“The more film I watch, the easier it gets to understand exactly how to read the plays and stuff like that. Once I get comfortable, I feel I’ll do a good job.”
