CAREER: One of the most disruptive defensive linemen in the nation…exhibits startling speed and strength, giving him the ability to track down fleeing running backs from behind…played regularly at left end behind starter Jamaal Green.

 

2002 (SENIOR): Ranked 11th on the team in tackles with 38 (20 solos)…had nine tackles for losses, four quarterback sacks (30 yards), 22 quarterback hurries, two deflected passes and a fumble recovery for a touchdown…made two tackles in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State…had two tackles against Virginia Tech…had four tackles, including one for a seven-yard loss, and four quarterback hurries at Syracuse…had four tackles and a quarterback hurry against Pittsburgh…made one tackle against Tennessee…recorded a tackle for a loss and half a sack in the win over Rutgers…registered six tackles, including a sack for a 12-yard loss, and three tackles for losses in the win over West Virginia…made seven tackles, including one stop for a loss, in the win over Florida State…recorded a tackle for a loss, and returned a fumble recovery for 56 yards and a touchdown (the first of his career) against Connecticut…recorded three tackles (2 solo), including a sack for a ten yard loss against Boston College…had two tackles (one solo) against the Owls…registered five solo tackles, two for losses, and had one pass deflection in the victory at Florida…made two unassisted tackles in the season opener against Florida A&M…missed much of two-a-days because of an injury.

 

2001 (JUNIOR): Played in eight games (starting five) at defensive end…made 30 tackles (13 solos), including four quarterback sacks (28 yards) and four tackles for losses (29 yards)…also registered 16 quarterback hurries, four passes broken up, forced two fumbles, and recovered two fumbles…enrolled at Miami for the Spring 2001 semester and began practices with the Hurricanes in April…made an immediate impact as a pass rusher in the spring…clearly established himself as a player to watch…racked up multiple sacks in two of Miami’s three full-speed spring scrimmages…only a midseason knee injury that caused him to miss three games slowed down Williams in his debut season at Miami…returned in good form from a knee injury suffered against West Virginia…made four tackles in his Miami debut, a 33-7 win at Penn State in which he had a quarterback sack and two quarterback hurries…made five tackles and had four hurries in the shutout win over Rutgers…had a season-high seven tackles and five hurries along with two pass deflections in a 43-21 win at Pittsburgh…made five stops in the win over Troy State…was a terror in the win over Florida State, racking up four tackles, one for a loss of 14 yards, forcing a fumble that led to a Miami touchdown, and racking up three quarterback hurries and two pass deflections…had one tackle against West Virginia before leaving the game with an injury in the first quarter… returned a month later against Washington and tallied four tackles, including one quarterback sack…made one solo stop at Virginia Tech before suffering an ankle sprain…had four tackles (three unassisted), including one for a loss, in Miami’s 37-14 victory over Nebraska in the Rose Bowl for the national championship.

 

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Hinds CC (Raymond, Mississippi)…one of the most dominating defensive players of the junior college ranks this past fall…had 20 quarterback sacks with 93 tackles (56 solos) in 2000…earned Honorable Mention JC All-American…named the Region 23 Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2000…first-team All-State and All-Region in 2000…named Junior College Defensive Most Valuable Player for the state of Mississippi in 2000…led his team to an 11-1 record in 2000 and the Mississippi Junior College Championship…co-defensive MVP and first-team All-State as a freshman in 1999…also named JC All-Region in 1999… chose Miami over North Carolina, Nebraska, Tennessee and Michigan…coached by Gene Murphy.
