Miami Post-Game Quotes

HEAD COACH LARRY COKER:
“I really liked how we played in the second half. It all boils down to winning football games. We played University of Miami football in the second half. Everyone made some big-time plays for us we scored and played great defense. We hope that impresses the BCS and the people who make the decisions. I am very proud of our team.”

The polls may be a subtle motivation, but we don’t talk about it being a motivation. If you’ve got to motivate yourself playing for a computer, that wears off pretty fast.”

ON FRANK GORE:
Frank Gore was one of the best running backs to come out of the state of Florida. He is a phenomenal football player. He can do it all, he can run he can catch. He likes to play the game and is a very smart football player.”

“I don’t think Ken was in a good rhythm in the first half. He was a little off-balanced, it wasn’t one of his best halves.”

Joe Fantigrassi did a great job tonight. I was very happy for him. He has worked extremely hard to help our team win tonight.”

QUARTERBACK KEN DORSEY:
ON TYING THE RECORD:
It’s a great honor for me. That record is held by some great players from the past. Steve was at the game tonight and we got to talk for a little bit.”

“The win is the important thing. Hopefully we impressed the polls. But even if we didn’t we still have five more weeks to prove ourselves. We are a veteran team, we need to go out each week and win games, that’s our biggest concern.”

ON WVU:
“They did a good job of throwing things at us and we had to go and make adjustments at the half.”

FRANK GORE:
“When I get my opportunities to get in, I just try and help my team. On the first run, I saw the O-line click and saw daylight, and I just hit it.”

ON MORE PLAYING TIME
“I’m going to keep working hard at practice and whatever the coach is going to do he is going to do, and when I get the opportunity I’ll just try and do it again.”

JAMES LEWIS:
“We have to make sure that every game we are getting better. We’re not staying at the same level we were at during the last game. We want to improve on things we didn’t do during the last week, so every week it’s a learning experience so we can get better every week.”

ON INTERCEPTION:
“I don’t know how long it was, but it was long. I was tired, we had been in the series for a while. I just knew I had my teammates and they were going to try and block for me.”

ED REED:
“We knew the weather was going to affect someone’s play tonight. We didn’t know if it was going to be ours or theirs. The offense struggled a little bit, but they picked it up in the end. But that’s our job, to go out there and make sure they don’t get in the end zone.”

“We score a lot in practice. We make plays and we try to take it to the house. If we get our hands on it, we can take it to the house.”

West Virginia Post-Game Quotes

HEAD COACH RICH RODRIGUEZ:
” Our kids battled. With all the injuries we had. I think we got a little tired. We’re not a real good football team, we need to get better.”

“I think any time you want to be ranked No. 1 at the end of the season, you’ve got something to play for and I think they’re a confident group and they’ve been in a lot of big games. I thought we took a pretty good shot from them. I thought they were focused and their kids played hard.”

“I told the team coming in here that it was maybe prime for us to catch them thinking about the BCS, thinking about rankings rather than us. That’s why I felt good coming in, that maybe coming in we wouldn’t get their best shot.”

ON DORSEY:
” I don’t know how he played in the first half compared to the second half, but I think he got on track as far as hitting a lot of passes and they got on us early.”
