CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – An impressive outing by the starting defense highlighted the afternoon practice as the University of Miami football team completed the second day of full squad two-a-day drills at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus.
“I was impressed with the starting defense this afternoon,” head coach Larry Coker said. “The No. 1 defense really picked it up today. I told the guys at the end of practice that the great Miami teams really worked together and made each other better. That’s what we need to make happen here. We had some good passing game success this morning and the defense stepped it up in the afternoon.”
The Hurricanes will only have one practice on Sunday, that workout slated for 3:30 p.m. The team’s first scrimmage of the fall will take place during the afternoon practice on Wednesday, August 15, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree. Practices are open to the public through August 15. All workouts are closed to the public beginning Thursday, August 16, with regular media policies going into effect at that time.
The Hurricanes begin the 2001 season Saturday, September 1, at Penn State in a nationally televised contest (ABC Sports). Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
