Game One
Stetson vs. Florida

FLORIDA POST-GAME QUOTES

Head Coach Andy Lopez

On his team’s performance:
“Needless to say, we did get off on the right foot today, in terms of getting the victory. We’ve had three mind-boggling games this year with Stetson. Again, real good to see us get on the right track. I’m real proud of guys like Jason Dill, who are still banged up. He didn’t get off to a real good start, but Jimmy Ramshaw wasn’t feeling very good and he battled through it.”

On the high-scoring game:
“I honestly felt going in that it would be a pretty low-scoring game. They have a good pitching staff and, obviously, Jimmy (Ramshaw) is pitching well since coming off the Tommy John surgery. Lenny DiNardo’s an outstanding college pitcher and we just happened to catch him on an off day.”

Jimmy Ramshaw, starting pitcher

On his performance:
“Getting used to the humidity was a bit of an adjustment for me. Being from Australia, it’s not something I’m used to. My legs kinda went on me and I was a little unstable. But I was able to keep it together and just thought about throwing strikes. After that, things turned out pretty good.”

On his team’s run support:
“It’s always good to have a lot of support behind you. We’ve had it lately. And it is especially good to get plenty of runs against a team like Stetson and a good pitcher like (Lenny) DiNardo. He’s a great pitcher, but our guys did a good job of hitting the ball today against him and their reliever (Jack Collins).”

Relief pitcher Jay Belflower

On his performance:
“Before when I faced (Stetson), I had a little trouble. Not much was working. It was just a bad day and I was beaten up pretty bad. But I’ve been throwing a lot better the last couple of months and things just worked out for me today.”

STETSON POST-GAME QUOTES

Stetson Head Coach Pete Dunn

On his teams performance:
“In the last five games we haven’t swung the bat very well. We’ve scored five runs in 32 innings. I was very pleased with the way we came out today and swung the bat, but we were just too generous. I believe we walked six or seven, I know we hit two [batters] and we made five errors. You can’t do that in a regional, whether it is Florida or whoever, you just can’t do that and expect to win a ballgame. We’ve got to pick up the ball, we’ve got to throw it and we’ve got to throw strikes. We didn’t do that today and I think that was the big difference.”

On Starting Pitcher Lenny DiNardo:
“Lenny [DiNardo] is a control pitcher. That’s been one of his strengths for the three years he’s been at Stetson, but he just didn’t have command today. Sometimes that happens.”

Lenny DiNardo, Stetson Starting Pitcher

On his Performance:
“That’s what baseball is, sometimes you go out there with your “A” game and sometimes it’s just not going to be there. That was one of the things today. I wasn’t very consistent with my strike zone and I wasn’t battling hard enough to get back into the game.”
