Miami Continues Prepping For Panthers
Nov. 8, 2000
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The hard work continued Wednesday for the Miami Hurricanes (ranked 2nd by Associated Press and in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Rankings) as the team practiced for more than two hours in preparation for their clash with the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Hurricanes and Panthers square off Saturday at the Orange Bowl in a nationally televised (ESPN2) game that kicks off at 12:10 p.m.
“Getting ready for Pittsburgh is a challenge this week,” said head coach Butch Davis. “They give you a lot of different looks, both offensively and defensively, and it makes preparing for them pretty complicated.”
The Hurricanes, who have won the last two meetings with the Panthers and 11 of the last 12 in the series overall, will be attempting to extend their lead in the series over Pittsburgh. Miami leads 17-9-1 overall and is 8-4-1 vs. Pittsburgh in games played at the Orange Bowl.
The Hurricanes continue practice Thursday afternoon at Greentree at 3:30 p.m. All practices are closed to the public. Plenty of tickets remain for Saturday’s game, as well as the Nov. 25 home finale against Boston College.
