Miami Hurricanes Football Practice Report - Nov. 7
Nov. 7, 2000
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Miami, ranked second in the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today college football rankings, began full-speed practices for this Saturday’s clash with the Pittsburgh Panthers with a two-hour practice Tuesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields. The Hurricanes (8-1 overall, 4-0 in the BIG EAST) host the Panthers (5-3, 2-3) Saturday in a nationally televised game (ESPN2) with kickoff slated for 12:10 p.m.
Head coach Butch Davis was pleased with the practice session, the team’s first since a 41-21 victory over then-No. 2 ranked Virginia Tech last Saturday at the Orange Bowl. Davis said the came back to practices ready to work after one of Miami’s most significant wins in several years.
“One of the toughest challenges in life, as well as football, is following up something good with the same work ethic that got you there,” said head coach Butch Davis. “Sometimes, it’s tougher to continue to extend yourself when people are telling you how good you are. Or, as after the Washington game (a loss on Sept. 9), how bad you are. Our kids have maintained an even keel emotionally this season and I think that will continue this week.”
The Hurricanes continue practice Wednesday afternoon at Greentree at 3:30 p.m. All practices are closed to the public. Plenty of tickets remain for Saturday’s game, as well as the Nov. 25 home finale against Boston College.
