Florida International
*** With the win, Florida International improves to 41-19 on the season and 1-1 in regional play.

*** FIU advances to Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. game vs. the loser of the 3:30 p.m.game between Miami and Florida Atlantic.

*** Junior RHP Paul Zervas recorded his first career nine-inning completegame. On May 5 vs. Western Kentucky, Zervas pitched a seven-inning completegame shutout in a 10-5 FIU win.

*** Zervas did not allow a run through 8.2 innings before Wagner rightfielderJohn Spinelli scored on a RBI-ground out by catcher Kevin Rugg.

*** Gus Alfonso hit a grand slam in the first inning, his second grand slamof the season. On May 13, Alfonso hit his first career grand slam in FIU’s7-4 win over Arkansas State. It marked the second home run of the regionalsfor Alfonso. On Friday, the junior third baseman hit a solo home run in theeighth inning of FIU’s 14-6 win over Florida Atlantic.

*** Alfonso is now hitting 5-9 with two home runs, a double, five RBI andthree runs scored through the two games at the Coral Gables Regional.

*** With the loss, Wagner falls to 24-30-1 and is eliminated from NCAAregional competition.

*** With an infield single in the first inning, junior shortstop MikeCerminaro extended his school-record hitting streak to 27 games.
