Baseball Hosts Michigan State

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami baseball team (14-6), ranked 10th in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll, host Michigan State (1-7) on Wednesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Stadium on the UM campus.
The game can be listened to on the radio at student station WVUM 90.5 FM or in Spanish on WACC 830 AM. Tickets can be purchased prior to the game at the UM Ticket Box Office in the Hecht Athletic Center or one-hour before the game at Mark Light Stadium. Miami is coming off a weekend sweep of C.W. Post, where the Hurricanes shattered nearly team offensive record. Over the three-game span UM totaled 73 runs, 11 better than the previous three-game series total. The offensive explosion culminated in a record day on Sunday, where the Hurricanes defeated the Pioneers 33-0. In the game, Miami totaled school-records for runs (33), RBI (30), hits (32), at bats (57) and margin of victory and shutout (33-0).
The Hurricanes will start junior RHP Tom Farmer (2-2, 3.86 ERA) on the mound. Farmer last earned a no-decision in his last start against FIU on March 1, leaving the game with UM still holding a 6-5 lead. Farmer previously won decisions against South Florida and Barry.
Michigan State left East Lansing with a 1-4 record and enter Wednesday night’s game at 1-7 after losing to Ball State, Florida Atlantic and Lynn on its Spring Break trip to Florida. The Spartans will throw junior RHP Dylan Putnam.
Following Michigan State, the Hurricanes host a three-game series with Rutgers this weekend at Mark Light Stadium. Student radio WVUM 90.5 FM will carry all three Rutgers games, while WACC 830 AM will broadcast the Saturday game in Spanish.
