The Hurricanes begin their ACC schedule alternating wins and losses over their last six contests.  Miami would benefit greatly with a win over such a highly ranked opponent and would gain early footing in its rugged conference schedule.

Offensively the `Canes are led by freshman Kate Howarth, who has three goals on the season.  Each of her goals came in a 5-1 victory over Ball State on Aug. 28.  Another newcomer, junior Barbara Blocker is the only other player to have multiple goals, with two.  In all, eight different Hurricanes have scored on the season.

In net for Miami is sophomore Vikki Alonzo.  The Carrollton, Texas native is just one shutout shy of setting the UM career mark and is currently tied with former Hurricane great Lauren McAdam.  So far this season she sports a 0.70 goals against average and has played all but 40 minutes in goal.

A Look at the Eagles
Boston College comes into the contest with a perfect 8-0-0 record on the season, though it hasn’t faced a ranked opponent so far this season.  The Eagle defense has only allowed a single goal in 2009 – to Harvard on Sept. 18.

The Eagles have scored 32 goals on the season and have six players that have two or more goals, led by Victoria DiMartino’s eight.

The Series
Thursday’s meeting will be the 10th between the two programs – dating back to Miami’s second season, in 1999. The Eagles hold a 7-2 all-time lead in the series, including a 4-1 victory a year ago in Chestnut Hill.  In that contest, Ashlee Burt scored the lone Hurricane goal on an assist from Lauren Singer in the 60th minute.
