CORAL GABLES, FLA. – After playing three of its first four ACC games on the road, the University of Miami men’s basketball team is happy to be back at the BankUnited Center to play host to Boston College in a re-match of December’s ACC opener.

Since that ACC opener, the Hurricanes have gone 7-2, including a 1-2 mark in conference play, while the Eagles have dropped six of their last 10 games, including three-straight league contests.
Following Tuesday’s game versus Boston College, Miami returns to the road for three of its next four games — playing six of its first nine ACC games away from home.
IN THE 305
Miami has won 11 straight at home and 17 of its last 19 in Coral Gables — including a 9-0 mark this season. The Hurricanes are 23-18 at home in ACC play, including a 12-5 mark dating back to two seasons ago. Miami is 1-0 in home ACC games this season, knocking off Wake Forest, 67-66, on Jan. 9.
UM is 65-23 (.739) at home under sixth-year head coach Frank Haith, including eight wins over ranked opponents. The Hurricanes have notched double-digit home wins at the BankUnited for the past two seasons and five times in six full seasons calling the arena home – and are one win shy of accomplishing that in 2009-10.
THE SERIES
Conference foes in both the Big East and ACC, Boston College has proved a tough contender for Miami over the years. The Eagles lead the all-time series 23-11, however the Hurricanes have won three of the last four over Boston College — including two straight in the BankUnited Center.
Miami rides a two-game skid into Tuesday’s 9 p.m. matchup, while Boston College has lost three straight. Both teams are vying for their second ACC victories this season. The Hurricanes also opened ACC play 1-3 in 2007-08, before advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
HELP HAITI
As part of a campus-wide effort to aid the people of Haiti, the University of Miami’s Department of Athletics will be collecting monetary donations at the men’s game against Boston College. Funds collected will be in support of the UM/United Way “Operation Helping Hands” which supports the UM Global Institute and the work of its doctors, nurses and students who are working directly with the victims of the earthquake.
BENCH PRESS
Using five different starting lineups this season, the Hurricanes have shown their depth, with bench players accounting for 40 percent of Miami’s scoring this season (544 of 1,363 total points) — an average of 30.2 points per game.
Malcolm Grant — who has started seven games this season — scored a season-high 18 points off the bench versus both Boston College and UNC Wilmington. A key player for the Hurricanes, he is third on the team in scoring with 10.5 points per game and second in assists with 3.7 per game.
In addition, the Miami newcomers –Grant, Reggie Johnson, Garrius Adams, Antoine Allen, Donnavan Kirk and Durand Scott — have also been productive for the 2009-10 Hurricanes squad, contributing 41 percent of the team’s scoring this season (558 of 1,363 total points). They also account for 60 percent of the total assists (172 of 286) and 52 percent of the team’s steals (70 of 135).

Adrian Thomas has hit a three-pointer in 12-straight games — the longest active streak in the ACC… Dwayne Collins is putting up 1.5 blocks per game versus conference competition — tied for 10th best in the ACC… With 20 free throw attempts in the last two games, Collins jumped up to fourth place in UM history in career free throw attempts with 520 and ranks fourth in the ACC this season with 6.3 free throw attempts per game… Malcolm Grant‘s 3.8:1 assist to turnover ratio versus ACC competition is third best in the league, while his 84.6 free throw percentage (11-13) and 4.8 assists in ACC games both rank seventh… Former UM men’s basketball player Jimmy Graham (2006-09) has been invited to participate in the NFL Combine after playing one season with the Hurricanes football squad as a tight end.
