McClinton Leads Men's Basketball Over Barry, 82-50

CORAL GABLES, FLA.Jack McClinton sank six three-pointers, scoring a game-high 20 points to lead the University of Miami men’s basketball team over Barry University, 82-50, in exhibition play at the BankUnited Center on Tuesday evening.

McClinton, an All-ACC Third Team selection in 2006-07, converted his first five three-point attempts as the Hurricanes took the early 17-0 lead, holding the Buccaneers scoreless for the opening nine minutes of the game. Miami would lead by as many as 26 points in the first half, shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 53.3 percent from long range, while forcing 16 turnovers and keeping Barry to just 29.2 percent shooting.

McClinton had 17 points in the first half, helping the Hurricanes to the 40-16 halftime advantage.

Although Barry saw marked improvement in the second half – converting 46.4 percent of its field goals, Miami continued to roll and led by as many as 40 points late in the game.

Dwayne Collins finished with a double-double for the Hurricanes, recording 10 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks, while Anthony King added six points, four boards and a block in his return to the court.

Tuesday also marked the debut of guards Lance Hurdle and Eddie Rios, who both saw time at the point. Hurdle, a junior transfer out of San Diego, Calif., finished with seven points and a game-high six assists, while Rios – a Miami native – added four assists, a block and a trey. In all, 14 Hurricanes saw action in the contest.

Karega Tucker led Barry’s effort with 11 points and a pair of steals.
