Hurricanes To Face Texas in Houston

HOUSTON – The University of Miami men’s basketball team has added another marquee non-conference matchup to its 2026-27 slate as the Hurricanes will take on Texas at the Toyota Center in Houston.

The game is scheduled for Dec. 12 with tip time and TV designation to be announced at a later date.

The meeting is the fifth all-time with the series split at 2-2. Miami won the most recent meeting, 88-81, in the 2023 Elite Eight.

Second-year head coach Jai Lucas will square off against his alma mater in his hometown. Lucas, who won three district titles at Bellaire High School, appeared in 58 games for the Longhorns from 2009-11.

In addition to facing Texas, Miami will open the season against Florida in Tampa, compete in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas and host Alabama on Dec. 2 as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
