W. Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Road Win Over Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ken. – The No. 20 University of Miami women’s tennis team claimed its first ACC road win after a 5-2 victory against Louisville on Friday night.

Xinyi Nong highlighted the team’s 10th-straight win for Miami (5-3, 3-1 ACC) over Louisville (4-10, 0-6 ACC) with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Elena Noguero on court six.

The Hurricanes battled to clinch the doubles point, starting with a 6-0 win from Alexa Noel and Audrey Boch-Collins on court three against Ibifuro Clement and Germany Davis. The Cardinals answered with a 6-4 win from Jamilah Snells and Berta Miret over the latest ACC Doubles Team of the Week duo of Leonie Schuknecht and Antonia Balzert.

The No. 45 ranked pair of Isabella Pfennig and Xinyi Nong downed Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresypkina, 6-4, to notch the opening point.

Miami went into singles with the lead and claimed courts one, five and six to take win. After Nong’s impressive performance, No. 11 Noel took down Snells, 6-3, 6-3, on court one. Louisville then secured a court-three win from Davis over No. 114 Balzert, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 and a court-four victory from Miret over Schuknecht, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

No. 96 Boch-Collins battled to clinch the Miami win with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 court-five victory against Gretkowski, before No. 58 Pfennig closed out the match with a 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4 comeback over Peresypkina.

The Hurricanes will remain on the road to face Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on March 17.
