Hurricanes Look To Shine In Alabama Before ACC Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Miami cross-country team will compete in the Crimson Classic Friday morning at the University of Alabama.
The men’s 8K race is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET while the women’s 6K is slated for 10:20 a.m. PTTiming will be the official time-keeper for the event; live results can be found HERE.
Daphnee Lavassas and Emma Maurel will be the front runners for the Hurricanes on Friday morning; Lavassas’s previous appearance this season was on September 22 at the Roy Griak Invitational, where the Miami native placed 13th with a time of 21:34.4 in the women’s 6K.
Maurel is coming off an impressive outing at the FSU Invitational, which took place on September 29. The French distance runner ran 17:45.7 in the women’s 5K, a time that now ranks seventh all-time in Miami’s program record book.
Junior Austen Cannon strives to be one of the top male runners on Friday morning in Alabama. The Pearland, Texas native clocked 24:54.8 two weeks ago at the FSU Invitational, good for fourth place.
This will be the last regular season cross-country meet for the Hurricanes before the ACC Cross Country Championships on October 27. The Hurricanes will travel back to Tallahassee, Florida, to compete amongst the conference’s best runners.
