Nelson, Osborn Named to All-ACC Academic Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Two Miami Hurricanes were among those selected to the All-ACC Academic Football Team, the conference office announced Thursday.
Freshman Zion Nelson and redshirt senior K.J. Osborn were both honored by the ACC for excellence in the classroom and on the field. Undergraduate and graduate student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or greater in order to be considered for an All-ACC Academic team.
Nelson, a computer science major, was the only true freshman in FBS to start 13 games at left tackle and one of only three true freshmen to start his 2019 season opener at left tackle. The Sumter, S.C., native enrolled in January 2019 and was one of just four Hurricanes to start all 13 games on offense.
Osborn, a criminology major, also started all 13 games for the Hurricanes in his lone season at Miami. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native ended the year as the team leader in receptions (50), receiving yards (547), receiving touchdowns (five), punt return yards (255) and all-purpose yards (1,018).
