Hurricanes Accept Bid to New Era Pinstripe Bowl
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes football program announced Sunday that it has accepted a bid to the 2018 New Era Pinstripe Bowl and will take on Wisconsin on Dec. 27 at Yankee Stadium in New York.
The game will be aired live at 5:15 p.m. ET on ESPN, 560 WQAM and 990AM ESPN Deportes.
“We are excited to accept a bid to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl for the first time in our history,” University of Miami Director of Athletics Blake James said. “Visiting New York and playing a game in a storied venue like Yankee Stadium is a unique and memorable opportunity for both our student-athletes and our fan base.”
Miami’s appearance in the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl marks the 42nd time in school history the Hurricanes have competed in a bowl game and sixth straight year in which the Hurricanes will compete in a postseason game; Miami owns a 20-21 overall record in 41 previous bowl games.
“We are looking forward to playing Wisconsin in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27,” head coach Mark Richt said. “They had a terrific season and I know we have a tremendous challenge ahead of us. We can’t wait to return to the practice field and start preparing for this game.”
Miami’s matchup with Wisconsin (7-5, 5-4 B1G) represents the sixth all-time meeting between the two schools and second straight bowl matchup; the Hurricanes dropped last year’s Capital One Orange Bowl, 34-24, at Hard Rock Stadium on Dec. 30, 2017. Wisconsin leads the all-time series, 3-2.
The Hurricanes (7-5, 4-4 ACC) are 1-1 in bowl games under Richt’s direction, with its last win coming in the 2016 Russell Athletic Bowl over West Virginia, 31-14, on Dec. 28, 2016.
Ticket requests are currently being accepted with a deadline of Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. Seating allocations will be assigned based on Hurricane Member Allocation Tier. The general public can request tickets, and those tickets be allocated once Hurricane Club member tickets are distributed.
