Jackson, Quarterman Earn ACC Weekly Honors
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — A pair of Hurricanes were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference for outstanding performances in Miami’s 47-10 win over North Carolina on Sept. 27.
Junior Joe Jackson was selected as the ACC’s Defensive Lineman of the Week, while junior Shaq Quarterman earned ACC Co-Linebacker of the Week honors.
Jackson put together one of the most dominant performances of his career in Miami’s ACC opener. Jackson totaled five tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles. Jackson added the second touchdown of his career on a 42-yard interception return, one of three defensive scores for the Hurricanes in the victory.
Making his 31st consecutive start at linebacker, Quarterman was all over the field for Miami in an impressive outing. Quarterman set a career mark with three tackles for loss and added two sacks in the victory, including one strip-sack that resulted in Miami’s first defensive touchdown. He also added one PBU in the win.
