Donaldson Named FWAA Freshman All-American
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Offensive lineman Navaughn Donaldson was among those players named Freshman All-Americans by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), the organization announced Monday.
The Miami native, who was named an ESPN Freshman All-American in December, played a significant role in his first season, starting 10 of 13 games at right guard and missing just two games due to injury. Donaldson earned All-ACC Honorable Mention recognition and was recognized with one ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor on Nov. 13.
With Donaldson helping pave the way, Miami’s offense averaged 403.3 yards of offense per game in 2017, including 160.8 rushing yards per game.
2017 marks the second straight year the Hurricanes have featured a FWAA Freshman All-American; WR Ahmmon Richards earned the honor in 2016.
The 13-person FWAA panel of nationally-prominent college football experts represented each of the FBS conferences along with independents in the selecting the team.
Both true freshmen (20 players) and redshirt freshmen (10 players) were considered for the team
