Miami Rises To No. 8 in AP Poll, No. 7 in Coaches

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Following a thrilling 25-24 win over Georgia Tech Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami continued its ascent into the top 10 of both major college football polls Sunday.

The Hurricanes (5-0, 3-0 ACC) moved up three spots from No. 11 to No. 8 in the Associated Press rankings and three spots from No. 10 to No. 7 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

The rankings are the highest for Miami since Week 9 of the 2013 season, when the Hurricanes were ranked No. 7 by the AP and No. 6 in the Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes entered the season ranked in both preseason polls for the first time since 2010.

In their two seasons under the direction of head coach Mark Richt, the Hurricanes have been ranked in the top 10 of both polls in both seasons; Miami was last ranked in the top 10 of both polls in Week 6 of the 2016 season (No. 10 / No. 10).

Miami continues its home slate with an ACC matchup against visiting Syracuse at Hard Rock Stadium on Oct. 21. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on ESPN.
