Berrios Named ACC Receiver of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Senior wide receiver Braxton Berrios captured Atlantic Coast Conference Receiver of the Week honors for his outstanding performance against Florida State, the conference office announced Monday.

The honor is the first such recognition for Berrios, who became the first Hurricane selected by the ACC for a weekly award this season.

Berrios delivered a dominant showing at Doak Campbell Stadium, leading Miami with eight receptions, 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns to help snap a seven-game losing streak to Florida State.

Berrios became the first UM player to score a touchdown reception in each of his first four games of the season since Reggie Wayne in 2000 and the first Hurricane with a touchdown catch in five straight games (dating to 2016) since Leonard Hankerson 2010.

Saturday marked the first multi-receiving touchdown game of his career and his eight receptions were a career high. He added a career-long 44-yard punt return in the victory and caught two key passes on Miami’s game-winning drive.

Berrios, who has started all four games this season, leads Miami with 18 receptions, 282 yards and five touchdowns.

No. 11/10 Miami (4-0, 2-0 ACC) next hosts Georgia Tech (3-1, 2-0 ACC) on Sat., Oct. 14 at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on ABC, 560 WQAM and 990AM ESPN Deportes.
