Perez-Somarriba Ascends 18 Spots in ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – As has been the case all spring, the University of Miami women’s tennis team has three players in the ITA singles rankings and one pair in the doubles rankings released Tuesday.
Junior Sinead Lohan leads the way on the singles list, ranking seventh nationally. She has been ranked in the top seven for the entirety of the 2016-17 season.
Following her is freshman Estela Perez-Somarriba, who jumped 18 spots from No. 94 in the country up to No. 76, just six spots shy of the top mark of her young career.
Rounding out the trio of ranked Hurricanes is redshirt senior Maci Epstein, who rose three places and is now No. 97 nationally.
Meanwhile, Lohan and freshman Dominika Paterova are back in the doubles rankings, checking in at No. 48 in the country.
Miami will play its final two regular season non-conference matches Friday and Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. The Hurricanes first face No. 10 Baylor and then meet second-ranked Ohio State the next day, with both contests set for noon.
