Six #ProCanes to Take Part in Championship Sunday
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team will be well represented today during the National Football League’s Championship Sunday, as six Hurricanes will look to guide their team’s to Super Bowl LI in Houston.
The NFC Championship game between the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers will feature Hurricanes Matt Bosher (2007-10), LaDarius Gunter (2012-14), Sam Shields (2006-09) and Herb Waters (2012-15). Bosher is the lone Hurricane representative on the Falcons, while Gunter and Waters will take the field for Green Bay. Shields remains on Green Bay’s roster, but is on injuried reserve.
Kickoff between the Falcons and Packers begins today at 3:05 p.m., in Atlanta. The game will be aired on FOX.
Hurricanes Artie Burns (2013-15) and Anthony Chickillo (2011-14) will represent the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship game. Kickoff between the Steelers and Patriots will begin tonight at 6:40 p.m., in Foxborough, Mass. The game will be aired on CBS.
