@CanesFutbol Heads North to Face Pittsburgh
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will play the second of three consecutive road contests Sunday at 1 p.m., when it meets Pittsburgh at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The Hurricanes are 4-1-0 all-time against the Panthers with all four wins coming by shutout and three straight victories in the series.
Four of the five prior matchups have been decided by one goal, including 1-0 decisions for Miami in the last two games. This will be the second time the two sides square off in ACC action, joining the Hurricanes’ home victory in 2013.
Miami heads into Sunday’s contest with an 8-5-0 (3-2-0 ACC) record in 2016. The Hurricanes rank third in the ACC and sixth nationally in assists (33). Additionally, Miami is tied for fourth in the conference goals allowed (10), fifth in points (87) and tied for fifth in both goals (27) and shutouts (six).
Senior forward Gracie Lachowecki’s nine goals are tied for the most in the ACC and rank No. 14 in the country. Lachowecki, who has scored in each of the last four matches, is tied for third all-time at Miami with 22 goals, including tallying 21 in 28 matches played since the start of the 2015 season.
Pittsburgh is 1-11-1 (0-5-0 ACC) this year and has dropped its last nine outings. The Panthers, who are in their fourth season in the ACC, posted a 10-7-1 (4-6-0 ACC) mark in 2015.
