2016 ACC Championship Bracket Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Pairings and game times have been set for the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship, which gets underway Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.

Miami (43-10, 21-7) earned the No. 1 overall seed and will head up Pool A. The Hurricanes will be joined by fourth-seeded Florida State (34-19, 16-10) and fifth-seeded NC State (34-18, 15-13), while No. 8 Boston College (31-19, 13-15) and No. 9 Georgia Tech (35-20, 13-16) will play Tuesday in the first round with the winner joining the pool.

Miami will open play Wed., May 25 at 3 p.m. against either No. 8 Boston College or No. 9 Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes will take on No. 5 NC State on Thurs., May 26 at 7 p.m., and will play No. 4 Florida State at 3 p.m. Sat., May 28. Miami’s designated “off day” is Fri., May 27.

Louisville (46-10, 22-8) earned the No. 2 seed and will lead Pool B with No. 3 Virginia (36-18, 19-11) and No. 6 Clemson (38-18, 16-14). The fourth spot of the pool will go to either No. 7  Duke (33-21, 14-15) or No. 10 Wake Forest (32-23, 13-17).

Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its pool Wednesday through Saturday (May 25-28). The two teams with the best records within their respective pools will advance to the title game on Sunday, May 29, with the winner earning the ACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

The tournament will get underway Tuesday with two first round games. The Blue Devils and Demon Deacons will play at 11 a.m., followed by the Eagles and Yellow Jackets at 3 p.m.

The two pool winners will play Sunday at noon for the 2016 ACC Championship.

Regional Sports Networks from across the conference footprint and across the nation will carry all 14 games on Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday’s noon championship game will televised nationally by ESPN2. All games will also be available on ESPN3.

In addition, the games on Tuesday through Saturday will be broadcast via satellite radio on Sirius 106/XM 193, while Sunday’s championship will be on SiriusXM College Sports National Channel 84.

The ACC Baseball Championship FanFest will be held just outside Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday, May 28, from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, May 29, starting at 9 a.m.
