CANES WRAP UP HOMESTAND WITH OWLS

• Fourth-ranked Miami will wrap up an eight-game homestand Wednesday with its final regular season matchup vs. FAU at 7 p.m.

• The Canes carry a commanding 57-14 all-time lead in the head-to head series, but lost its first game vs. FAU 4-3 on April 20 at The Light.

• Miami and FAU were scheduled to square off three times across the season – once in Boca Raton and twice in Coral Gables – but the first game (March 30) in Boca was cancelled due to rain.

• Miami righthander Jesse Lepore (5-0, 2.31 ERA) will oppose Owls righthander David McKay (2-3, 3.20 ERA) on Star Wars Night.

MIAMI RANKED IN TOP FIVE OF EVERY POLL

• The Hurricanes were ranked as high as No. 3 in polls released on May 2; Miami was ranked No. 3 by D1Baseball, USA TODAY Coaches Poll and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and was No. 4 by Baseball America, Perfect Game and NCBWA.

• Miami was ranked No. 1 in fi ve of six polls released Monday, April 25 – marking the first time the Hurricanes were No. 1 in back-to-back weeks (April 18, April 25) since June 3, 2008 and June 10, 2008.

GOLD GLOVE DEFENSE

• In the newest NCAA Division I statistics released May 2, Miami had the third-best fielding percentage in the country and the best fielding percentage in the ACC at .984.

• Miami has made just 24 errors in 2016, compared to 66 by opponents. The Hurricanes had made 54 errors at this point in 2015 – a year where Miami made it to the College World Series.

• The Hurricanes’ starting infield of third baseman Edgar Michelangeli (1), shortstop Brandon Lopez (5), second baseman Johnny Ruiz (4) and first baseman Christopher Barr (2) have combined for just 12 errors.
