@CanesWTennis Faces Louisville on Senior Day

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami women’s tennis team will conclude its regular season Sunday at noon when it hosts Louisville at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The match will serve as senior day for Clementina Riobueno, a 2014 ITA All-American in doubles, and Stephanie Wagner, a 2015 ITA All-American in singles. The duo will be recognized on-court for their stellar careers before action begins.

Seventh-ranked Miami (16-4, 11-2 ACC) won its only previous match against the Cardinals, picking up a 6-1 road victory last season.

Louisville (8-16, 0-13 ACC) does not have any individuals nationally ranked in either singles or doubles.

The Hurricanes have four singles players in the rankings, including Wagner, who is holds the sixth position, and sophomore Sinead Lohan, who comes in eighth. Sophomores Yolimar Ogando and Wendy Zhang check in at No. 37 and No. 64, respectively. Ogando has yet to play this season due to injury.

Wagner and Zhang form the eighth-ranked doubles pair in the country, while the senior duo of Wagner and Riobueno holds the No. 66 spot in the doubles rankings.

Heading into Sunday with 130 singles victories in her career, Wagner will be looking to tie current Miami associate head coach Laura Vallverdu for second place all-time. The record of 133 is held by Bianca Eichkorn. Meanwhile, Riobueno enters the match tied for No. 10 on Miami’s all-time doubles wins list with 90.

In addition, the Hurricanes, who are currently 10-0 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, will attempt to finish the regular season undefeated at home for the third time in the past five years.

The first 60 fans in attendance Sunday will receive a free Miami-branded handheld fan. There will also be ice cream available on a first-come, first-served basis. The match is a Canes Coalition event for Hurricane student-athletes, too.
