@CanesWTennis Travels to No. 71 Florida State
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set for its third road match in six days Wednesday afternoon at No. 71 Florida State.
No. 21 Miami (4-4, 1-2 ACC) is set to take on the Seminoles at 2 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Hurricanes are 32-6 all-time against Florida State. That mark includes a 7-3 road record, with Miami winning five of the past six meetings on the Seminoles’ home court.
Florida State is 7-4 on the season, including 0-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles, who do not have any singles players or doubles players nationally ranked, are 3-4 in 2015-16 against ranked opponents.
Miami enters the match with a quartet of ranked singles players, with sophomore Sinead Lohan and senior Stephanie Wagner leading the group at seventh and eighth in the country, respectively. Both players are 8-1 this spring and each is 6-1 against ranked opponents.
Yolimar Ogando, who has yet to play in 2016 due to injury, checks in at No. 39 in the Oracle/ITA rankings and fellow sophomore Wendy Zhang is No. 73.
In doubles, Wagner and Zhang form the nation’s No. 11 duo, while Wagner also pairs with senior Clementina Riobueno in the No. 59 spot.
