@CanesWTennis to Face Two Top-10 Teams in NC
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set for a pair of top-10 road matches this weekend in North Carolina.
No. 13 Miami (4-2, 1-0 ACC) will first take on sixth-ranked North Carolina Friday at 5 p.m. and then will face ninth-ranked Duke Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Tar Heels feature three ranked singles players, including Hayley Carter who checks in at second in the nation. Whitney Kay is ranked No. 27 and she is followed by Jessie Aney at No. 84.
North Carolina (10-2, 0-0 ACC) also features a pair of ranked doubles pairs, with Carter and Kay holding down the top spot in the country. Aney and Kate Vialle are ranked No. 31.

The Blue Devils also have a trio of players in the Oracle/ITA rankings, led by Beatrice Capra at No. 26. Kaitlyn McCarthy comes in at No. 28 and Ellyse Hamlin holds the No. 59 position.
Duke (7-1, 0-0 ACC) has one ranked doubles duo, as Capra and Hamlin team together as the nation’s No. 17 pair.
The Hurricanes’ match against the Blue Devils will take place in Durham, N.C., at either Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center or Ambler Tennis Stadium and live stats can be found HERE. Premium live video will also be available HERE.
Miami enters the match with one ACC win already under its belt, a 7-0 victory over No. 24 Georgia Tech Jan. 29. The team last played a full match Feb. 7, a 4-3 neutral site victory against No. 10 Oklahoma State, and then had its next match, at home against No. 29 Baylor, suspended due to rain.
The Hurricanes have four ranked singles players, including sophomore Sinead Lohan at No. 7 and senior Stephanie Wagner at No. 8. Sophomore Yolimar Ogando, who has yet to play this spring due to injury, is at No. 39 and fellow sophomore Wendy Zhang checks in at No. 73.
In doubles, Wagner and Zhang are the No. 11 pair in the nation, while Wagner also teams with fellow senior Clementina Riobueno in the No. 59 spot.
