@CanesWTennis Returns Home to Face Baylor
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After a week without a match and nearly three weeks without a home contest, the University of Miami women’s tennis team will face No. 29 Baylor Monday at 11 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
No. 12 Miami (4-2, 1-0 ACC) will be playing its fifth-straight top-30 opponent when it takes on the Bears, who advanced to the 2015 NCAA Team Championship Elite Eight.
This will be the teams’ 11th meeting in the past 10 seasons, as they have faced off at least once a season since 2007. The all-time series between the Hurricanes and Bears is even at seven, with Miami winning three of the past four matchups.
The Hurricanes have four singles players among the top 70 players in the nation in the Oracle/ITA rankings. Sophomore Sinead Lohan and senior Stephanie Wagner form the nation’s lone top-10 duo, checking in at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively.
Yolimar Ogando, who is out due to injury, holds the No. 29 position and fellow sophomore Wendy Zhang is ranked No. 69 in the country.
Miami also has two ranked doubles pairs, both featuring Wagner. She teams with Zhang in the No. 12 spot and with senior Clementina Riobueno at No. 37.
Baylor’s Kiah Generette and Blair Shankle are ranked No. 20 by Oracle/ITA and the Bears do not have any ranked singles players.
