Canes Picked To Finish Third in ACC Coastal
PINEHURST, N.C. – The University of Miami Football team was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division according to a poll of 158 media members in attendance at the 2015 ACC Football Kickoff at Pinehurst Resort.
The Hurricanes also received seven first-place votes to win the ACC Coastal.
Miami enters the 2015 campaign by returning 11 starters and 41 letterwinners from last year’s squad, which made the program’s 38th overall bowl appearance in 2014.
Quarterback Brad Kaaya lead the way for the Hurricanes’ offense as he returns for his sophomore season following a stellar rookie campaign where he set the single season all-time freshman record for passing yards, passing touchdowns and completions. Kaaya would eventually go on to win ACC Rookie of the Year honors.
The Hurricanes’ sophomore signal-caller tied for fourth in the ACC Preseason Player of the Year voting.
Clemson was picked the likely overall champion of the ACC on 84 ballots, followed by Florida State with 41 and Georgia Tech with 20. Virginia Tech (7 votes), North Carolina (3), Miami (2) and NC State (1) rounded out the balloting.
