Collins Earn Second Straight ACC Weekly Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After powering No. 8 Miami to another perfect week, Hurricanes sophomore Zack Collins was recognized with ACC Player of the Week honors for the second straight week Monday.

Collins hit an eye-popping .692 (9-for-13) over four games with three home runs and a team-best 14 RBI. The Pembroke Pines, Fla., native drew six walks, did not strike out and reached base at an .810 clip, helping Miami extend its winning streak to a season-long eight games.

His OPS (on-base plus slugging) for the week was 2.415.

Collins, who also earned the ACC’s weekly honor on May 4, has been the catalyst behind Miami’s eight-game winning streak. Over the stretch, Collins is hitting .533 (16-for-30) with three doubles, seven home runs (including two grand slams) and 24 RBI.

Collins’ back-to-back weekly honor marks the second time a Hurricane has accomplished the feat this season; junior David Thompson was named ACC Player of the Week on March 16 and earned ACC Co-Player of the Week honors on March 23.
