Canes Participate in Thanksgiving Food Drive

MIAMI – Seven Miami Hurricane football players and coaches’ wives delivered over 50 turkey dinners and other traditional non-perishable Thanksgiving food items Tuesday afternoon to the Greater Mercy Missionary Baptist Church in Overtown.

The turkey dinners were donated by AJ Milam and his staff from Milam’s Market.

Senior Hugo Delapenha; junior Frank Gabriel, sophomore Justin Vogel; and freshmen Michael Badgley, Demetrius Jackson, Terry McCray and Mike Smith all participated in the food drive.

In all, 10 players and staff made the trip to Overtown, including Kelly Golden, Nikki Williams and Director of Player Development Ryan McNamee . 

Pastor Willie Williams of the Greater Mercy Missionary Baptist Church was very appreciative of the Hurricanes’ special delivery on Tuesday.

“We are truly blessed to be a part of the annual Hurricane Thanksgiving tradition,” Williams said..
