Miami Ranked No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball
TUSCON, Ariz. — Following a perfect 4-0 week and a road sweep of previously ranked NC State, the Miami Hurricanes re-entered the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper weekly poll Monday at No. 24.
The Hurricanes (17-12, 8-4 ACC) clinched their series with two close wins in a rain-soaked series at Doak Field. In Sunday’s finale, freshman slugger Zack Collins connected for two home runs and six RBI to power Miami to its first three-game ACC road sweep since a trip to Wake Forest in 2011.
Miami opened its week with a 4-0 shutout of Florida Gulf Coast, and now has seven wins over ranked teams through its first 29 games.
The Hurricanes were ranked No. 13 by Collegiate Baseball in the publication’s preseason rankings entering the 2014 season. Miami is one of four teams from the ACC featured in the weekly poll, joining Virginia (No. 3), Florida State (No. 4) and Clemson (No. 23).
