Canes Hold First Spring Scrimmage Saturday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes football team held the first of its three spring scrimmages Saturday afternoon on the Greentree Practice Fields.

The scripted scrimmage lasted 90 minutes and covered a variety of situations, including red zone and the two-minute drill.

Senior Ryan Williams and redshirt freshman Kevin Olsen took all the snaps under center during the scrimmage, while reserve quarterbacks Gray Crow, Garrison Lassiter, Michael Welch and Isaac Hoza threw during skeleton drills.

Saturday’s scrimmage began with the Hurricanes’ first-team offense going against the first-team defense. The offensive drive began at the 1-yard line. On the first play, Williams was touched in the end zone by senior DE Anthony Chickillo and sophomore DE Al-Quadin Muhammad for a safety.

Miami’s rushing offense featured a steady diet of sophomore Gus Edwards, sophomore Walter Tucker and senior De’Andre Johnson. The Canes offense scored six touchdowns on the day – four on the ground and two through the air.

Afterwards, the “Voice of the Miami Hurricanes”, Joe Zagacki, recapped Saturday’s scrimmage with Williams, junior DE Ufomba Kamalu and senior OL Jon Feliciano for the latest #CanesCamp Report.

With 10 practices complete, the Hurricanes have five practices remaining this spring.
