Five Players Set for College All Star Bowl

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Five Miami Hurricanes – Jimmy Gaines, Curtis Porter, Kacy Rodgers II, Maurice Hagens and Shayon Green – will represent the Nationals roster in Friday’s College All Star Bowl.

The second annual game will be played at the newly renovated Paladin Stadium on the campus of Furman University. The game will kick at 6 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. The Nationals roster will be coached by former Clemson head coach Danny Ford, while the Americans roster will be coached by former South Carolina State head coach Willie Jeffries.

As a senior in 2013, Gaines started all 13 games for Miami at middle linebacker, finishing second on the team with 83 tackles. He finished his UM career with 199 tackles, eight tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Rodgers II played in 12 of 13 games at safety in 2013, while making seven starts. He finished the season with 18 tackles. In 2013, he recorded both his career-first sack (15-yard loss) and career-first interception (returned for 14 yards).

Green concluded his career with 25 consecutive starts at defensive end after suffering two injury-plagued seasons. The 2012 ACC Brian Piccolo Award co-winner recorded 68 tackles, a team-best 10.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks as a senior.

Hagens played in every game for the Hurricanes during his final three seasons. As a senior in 2013, he played in all 13 games, making five starts at fullback. He finished his career with 13 carries for 46 yards and 18 receptions for 165 yards.

Porter started nine of 19 games along the defensive line as a senior, finishing with 25 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss.
