Miami XC Wraps Up ACC Championships
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – The University of Miami cross country program battled against conference foes at the ACC Championships Friday.
The Canes had 14 student-athletes race at the conference meet. Eight men competed in the 8K race at 10 a.m. and six women hit the 6K course at 11 a.m. at Beeson Park.
“They raced hard in two very competitive fields,” Miami distance coach Damon Griffiths said.
Lindsi Arrington was Miami’s top finisher on the women’s side. The senior finished in 21:43.8, while senior Brooke Dovell and junior Taylor Votek were the next two Canes to cross the finish line.
Freshman Gabrielle Hesslau, sophomore Ally Finical and sophomore Kelly Williamson completed the Hurricanes competing in the 140-runner field.
Miami’s men were led by senior Sean Pezzulo, who finished the 8K in 25:48.2. Fellow senior Luke Fontaine finished shortly after Pezzulo, running the course in 25.56.9.
Seniors JaCee Jarnagin (26.51.6), Connor Adams (26:52.8) and Jonas Freznel (26:55.4) made up the middle group of Miami men, finishing within less than four seconds of each other.
Junior Douglas Dourado, freshman Jon Keller and sophomore Kevin Marsh rounded out Miami’s eight men in the field of 129.
