Graham Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week
NEW YORK – For his nine-catch, 134-yard performance in a 31-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was recognized with NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors Wednesday.
The fourth-year veteran, who gave the Saints the lead for good with his 16-yard touchdown in the second quarter, capped the game’s scoring with his second touchdown catch of the game in the fourth. His 313 receiving yards over the past two weeks are the most by a tight end in a two-game span since 1996, while his four receiving touchdowns through Week Three action are the most by any NFC player.
Graham ranks third in receiving yards (358) among all NFL pass-catchers, and scored the 28th and 29th touchdowns of his career in just his 28th start. The 100-yard game was the seventh such performance for Graham, who surpassed 3,000 receiving yards in the victory.
Graham became just the third tight end to be recognized multiple times since the inception of the weekly honors in 1984. It was the second career honor for Graham and the second this season for ProCanes (Devin Hester in Week Two).
