Portis Joins @theACCDN Broadcast Team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The ACC Digital Network (ACCDN) announced Tuesday the addition of former Miami Running Back Clinton Portis and former Notre Dame Lineman Renaldo Wynn to the ACCDN broadcast team. The two decorated former college and NFL athletes will join host Jeff Fischel in bringing fans insight, features and exclusive interviews as part of the ACC Digital Network’s extensive sports coverage of the ACC.
Clinton Portis was a star for the 2001 National Champion Miami Hurricanes, a team some consider the best of all-time. He finished his three-year career at Miami with 2,523 yards rushing before being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2002 NFL Draft. He was named NFL Rookie of the Year in Denver, then went on to spend most of his NFL career as the starting running back for the Washington Redskins for seven seasons. Portis, considered one of the best Redskins in history, retired 77 yards short of the 10,000 yards rushing mark, making him NFL’s 27th all-time rusher.
During his time with the Redskins, Clinton Portis was known as much for his character-based antics on camera, as he was for his record setting performance on the field. Fans watching ACC football coverage on the ACCDN, can expect to see a little of Portis’ Miami swagger and his one-of-a-kind personality that made him one of the NFL’s unique characters. “I’m glad to have the opportunity to talk college football on the ACC Digital Network,” said Portis, “and I’m especially excited to bring back some fun to the game for our viewers.”
A standout defensive end for Notre Dame, Renaldo Wynn earned team MVP and Lineman of the Year honors in South Bend. A first-round draft choice, he also played for the Washington Redskins, as well as the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants. “Football is my first love,” said Renaldo Wynn, “I’m looking forward to the chance to simplify the game and provide insight through the eyes of a player, which will give fans a another way to look at the game”
With the addition of these two football personalities, the ACCDN hopes to add another fresh angle to coverage of ACC Sports and especially college football. “Clinton and Renaldo represent everything that makes the ACC Digital Network special. They’ve each got unique personality, pure love of the game and a passion for being the best.” said Andy Siegel, Executive Producer for the ACCDN, “We are thrilled to have these friends and former teammates join our team.”
The “ACC Live” show and all ACCDN video on demand segments, originating from the studio in Charlotte, NC are viewable on theACC.com, the ACC mobile and tablet app, as well as various streaming and connected mobile and TV devices.
