Moving in Stages: Phase 1 of Schwartz Center
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Less than two years after breaking ground, the University of Miami Athletics Department has begun its four-phase move into the new Schwartz Center for Academic Excellence.
Compliance and Academic Services staff moved into their respective areas this week. Both departments will be housed on the second floor of the Schwartz Center. The focal point of the second floor is the state-of-the-art computer lab, study hall area, study rooms, class rooms and a 120-seat auditorium available for student-athletes.
The Schwartz Center also features one of the finest locker rooms in college athletics. The new locker room provides increased dressing and changing space as well as a sitting and storage area. Connected to the locker room is a 3,500-square foot players’ lounge.
With phase one of the move-in complete, UM Athletics will continue its transition into the Schwartz Center over the next few months until the official grand opening, which is slated for this fall.
In the front of the Champions Plaza will be the brick courtyard that will feature more than 300 personalized engraved bricks donated by Hurricane Club members and donors to the athletics program.
The bricks are set to be installed in August and will be in place prior to the building grand opening this fall. There is still time to place your brick order online or call the Hurricane Club at 305-284-6699
