MBB To Throw First Pitch Saturday
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Student-athletes from the University of Miami men’s basketball team will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior the Hurricanes’ baseball game Saturday against Clemson at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
Players from the 2012-13 team will also be available to sign autographs following the toss.
This season, the Hurricanes advanced to the Sweet 16 for just the second time in school history after winning both the ACC regular-season and tournament championships. The Canes’ 29 overall and 15 ACC wins were both program-bests.
Coach Jim Larrañaga was named AP, Naismith, Henry Iba and ACC Coach of the Year following the Canes’ run to the NCAA tournament. All-American Shane Larkin was tabbed ACC Player of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP, while Durand Scott was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Miami graduates five seniors from the 2012-13 squad, including Scott, Julian Gamble, Reggie Johnson, Kenny Kadji and Trey McKinney Jones.
