Boone, Restrepo Join Hurricane Club Staff
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Emily Boone and Alfonso Restrepo have joined as University of Miami’s Hurricane Club staff, Associate AD Jesse Marks announced Monday.
Boone will serve as the Donor Relations Manager, while Restrepo returns to his alma mater as the Assistant Director of Development for Major Gifts.
Boone came to the University of Miami after serving in various capacities within the University of North Carolina Athletic Department since 2003.
Prior to joining the Hurricane Club, she was the Associate Director of Membership at The Rams Club at the University of North Carolina. She was responsible for the management and coordination of tickets and parking assignments for Rams Club members and the solicitation and cultivation of Annual Fund donors. While with The Rams Club, she was a part of an annual fund campaign that raised $11.5 million, and boasted a 94 percent donor retention rate. Boone also played a key role in the development and implementation of the Kenan Stadium Equity Seating Plan and assisted in raising funds and selling premium seats that benefited the Kenan Stadium Expansion capital campaign.
“Emily is a great addition to the Hurricane Club team,” Marks said. “Her experiences working at a first-rate organization such as The Rams Club at UNC will bring a creative and very efficient approach to our annual giving program, which our supporters will recognize immediately.”
Boone graduated from North Carolina in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and later earned her master’s degree in sport administration from UNC in 2010.
A native of Brevard, N.C., she currently lives in Coral Gables with her husband, Josh, who is Assistant AD for Business Operations at the University of Miami.
Restrepo joins the Hurricane Club staff after spending the previous four years as the Assistant Director of Development for the Panther Club at Florida International University. He oversaw the annual fund program at FIU, and served as a member of the major gifts team. During his tenure at FIU, athletics giving increased by more than 500 percent and donors to the Panther Club nearly quadrupled.
“I would like to welcome Alfonso back home to the University of Miami,” Marks said. “Alfonso’s roots and knowledge of the UM community and our program will be invaluable as he builds relationships with our supporters locally and nationally in an effort to move our program forward.”
Restrepo was a member of FIU Athletics senior staff, assisting in roles such as soccer liaison for external events, social media implementation and premium areas coordinator for all athletic facilities. He also oversaw the mascot, cheerleading and dance programs at FIU.
He is a 2006 graduate of the University of Miami and was a five-year member of the Hurricanes’ co-ed cheerleading team.
