Monday ProCanes Report: Benjamin Sets Record

The Monday ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. Cleveland rookie Travis Benjamin scored one of the most impressive touchdowns on an action-packed Sunday, returning a punt 93 yards for his second career score against Kansas City. Benjamin, one of four ProCanes to find the endzone so far in Week 14, recorded the longest punt return in franchise history on the play.

Travis Benjamin (Cleveland Browns) – 93-yard punt return for touchdown
The Browns’ rookie speedster drew heaps of praise for his impressive return, credited with sparking Cleveland’s 30-7 romp of Kansas City. Benjamin’s touchdown was the first on a punt return for a Cleveland rookie since 1967, and the first for any returner not named Josh Cribbs since 2005. Adding the longest punt return in franchise history to his resume, the Belle Glade, Fla., native now has over 400 all-purpose yards in his first season, including 296 on punt and kick returns.

Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers) – four catches, 55 yards, one touchdown
The Panthers’ sixth-year tight end continued to build on his impressive season Sunday, hauling in the first ProCanes touchdown of the day in Carolina’s 30-20 upset of division rival Atlanta. Olsen reeled in five catches in the game, tying the second-best mark of his career with 54 receptions through 13 games. Olsen’s impressive leaping grab on a strike from quarterback Cam Newton opened the game’s scoring, giving the Wayne, N.J., native five touchdowns on the season.

Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts) – six catches, 64 yards, one touchdown
The Colts veteran wideout enjoyed another brilliant day in Indianapolis’ 27-23 comeback win over Tennessee. Wayne registered six catches in the contest, surpassing the 1,200-yard mark for the sixth time in his career. The 12th-year pro added his name to an impressive list of players who have also accomplished the feat: Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt. With 94 catches on the year, Wayne is six catches away from his fourth 100-catch season.

Antrel Rolle (New York Giants) – six tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery
The Giants’ Pro Bowl safety criticized his team earlier in the week, claiming it needed to play with more toughness and physicality. Rolle backed up the talk on Sunday afternoon, guiding New  York to a 52-27 thrashing of New Orleans. The seventh-year defensive back recorded a fumble recovery and forced fumble on successive drives, adding in six tackles in a stout defensive performance. Through Week 14, Rolle ranks first on the team in solo tackles (61) and second on the team in total tackles (79).
